Tunisia’s foreign minister is expected in Malta later today for a two-day visit during which trade and sports agreements will be signed.

Mouldi Keti of the Tunisian national unity government is reciprocating Foreign Minister Tonio Borg’s visit to Tunisia in February.

It is the first visit by the Tunisian foreign minister to Malta since the uprising led to the ousting of former president Zine El-Abidine Ben Ali earlier this year and the formation of a national unity government.

Mr Keti is expected to visit with a large delegation of government officials to discuss various issues as part of the 9th meeting of the Mixed Tunisia-Malta Commission.

Dr Borg will hold meetings with Mr Keti on Monday and Tuesday when two agreements will be signed. One of the agreements covers youth and sports while the other covers trade. The trade agreement is expected to set up a new board bringing together Malta Enterprise and its Tunisian counterpart.
