The Maltese government has “strongly” condemned Wed­nesday’s attacks in Tunisia when gunmen killed at least 20 people in a museum.

The government expressed condolences with the victims’ relatives and hoped for a speedy recovery of those hurt.

On Wednesday, gunmen opened fire at a major museum in Tunisia’s capital, killing at least 20 people, mostly foreigners, in one of the North African country’s worst terrorist attacks.

Foreign Affairs Minister George Vella expressed support for the Tunisian government and called on the international community to stand by Tunisia and its people.

Dr Vella discussed the tragedy and the situation in the Mediterranean with his Cypriot counterpart during talks in Nicosia yesterday.
