On June 16, I went to Incognito Bar and Restaurant to watch a football match. When I went back to my car after the game, much to my surprise, I found a contravention notice stuck to the vehicle’s windshield!

The notice stated the following: “Contravention: Parkjar ta’ vettura f’post ipprojbit (car parked in a prohibited place).

“Place of contravention: Fliegu Street.

Warden No: 566”.

I would like to clarify the following. The car was parked in a car park and not in the street; there is no signage at all which specifies that the car park is controlled by the council; there are no white boxes at all and therefore no signs to highlight that cars should be parked within the white lines (as there are no white lines) and my car was parked parallel to the other cars and was causing no obstruction whatsoever.

The above can be verified by the photo that I took at the time of the “alleged” contravention. I even went back to the same car park the next morning to double-check whether there were any signs stipulating that the said car park was under council control.

I have of course lodged an objection (online) regarding this false accusation and am still waiting for a positive reply. Had I broken the law, I would have had to pay the stipulated fine without argument.

Due to the fact that I have not committed the alleged contravention, can St Paul’s Bay council or the wardens’ management confirm whether warden 566 is going to be disciplined?
