A mourning wall was yesterday set up on Facebook, paying tribute to the 37-year-old teacher who was killed on Wednesday following a head-on crash in Salina.

Karen Cutajar, a personal and social development teacher from St Paul’s Bay, died after her car was involved in a collision with a truck close to the junction leading to T’Alla w’Ommu Hill on Wednesday afternoon.

A Civil Protection rescue crew helped get Ms Cutajar out of the wreckage. The truck driver, a 28-year-old man from Naxxar, was given medical treatment for shock.

The Facebook page called ‘In Loving Memory of Karen Cutajar – PSD Teacher’, was flooded with messages of condolences from her friends, others who had never met her, and parents thanking her for taking care of their children at school.

“My son was her student and he was all the time mentioning her during holidays as she truly touched his heart. Never a bye, but see you Ms Karen, from Jakob,” Carmen Galea, said, expressing her sorrow at the passing away of a “beautiful” woman.

Romina Oliveri commented that both her children “adored” Ms Cutajar.

“Tragic news. She was such a beautiful person. I’m shocked. My deepest sympathies,” Ylenia Peresso wrote.

Pauline Zammit also expressed shock at the tragic news, describing Ms Cutajar as a “truly a lovely lady and a great teacher” who will be missed.

The funeral bidding farewell to Ms Cutajar will be held tomorrow at 3pm at Żebbuġ parish church.
