A tribute to Gozo’s millennial voyage, from Ġgantija to eco-Gozo, will be one of the highlights of this year’s Lejlet Lapsi Notte Gozitana, being presented by the Ministry for Gozo between tomorrow and Sunday.

The representation will consist of a live performance of the story of a people built on history, faith and tradition, experiencing the making of an island community into Gozo – “the island of joy”.

Emerging choreographer Dorian Mallia joined forces with George Mizzi as artistic director to involve the participating folk, dance, actors and singers’ groups in Gozo for the three-day event.

“Gozo looks forward to hosting this highly popular event that attracts families and young people from both Malta and Gozo while adding attractions to foreign tourists holidaying in our islands. This is a celebration showcasing the best of our talent as an island and, once more, we look forward to a successful weekend,” Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono said.

A major initiative in this fifth edition, fitting into the eco-Gozo theme, is a campaign to save five tons of CO2 by encouraging visitors to walk around Victoria rather than use other forms of transport.

As usual, Lejlet Lapsi Notte Gozitana will provide added attractions besides those that Gozo offers at this time of year. One such attraction will be the Marine Road Show on the ecology of the sea, its riches and what is important to preserve.

Several exhibitions will be held around Victoria apart from street entertainment, children’s attractions, stalls with food and wine, concerts, band marches, cultural activities, tours on different themes and also a hands-on agricultural experience. Bookings for the tours are accepted until today.

Those travelling to Gozo can use a shuttle bus service to Victoria that leaves Mġarr as soon as the ferry arrives until 10 p.m. tomorrow and Saturday. Added services leave Victoria for Mġarr up to 12.30 a.m. to catch the next ferry to Malta tomorrow and up to 2 a.m. on Saturday.

All activities are free of charge (unless stated). For more information phone 2155 6700, e-mail info@gozoculture.com or visit www.gozoculture.com, www.eco-gozo.com and www.gozo.gov.mt.
