Cars were damaged in Fgura late last week after trenches dug in Liedna and Riħan roads were left uncovered, mayor Byron Camilleri said.

Dr Camilleri has asked the police to prosecute and urged Transport Malta to take action against the private contractor doing the works.

In a statement, he said the works were not covered by a local council permit. Roads were closed without a permit and without the assistance usually provided by local wardens, he said.
