The course on tree pruning announced by Environment Minister Leo Brincat last month has been formally introduced this semester at the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology.

He was responding to a parliamentary question asked by Nationalist MP Charlò Bonnici.

Mr Bonnici also asked whether the gardeners involved in the savage pruning of trees lining St Ġorġ Preca College in Ħamrun would be obliged to attend the course and whether the cost of the course would be footed by the Government.

Mr Brincat said the course’s management and registration would be runby Mcast.

He added that for the first time the Government was trying to address the problem of uncontrolled pruning after the previous administration dismantled the tree protection law in 2011.
