Brussels-Malta flights ‘a success’

Summer flights between Malta and Brussels were successful, with 6,116 passengers travelling across 26 days of operation.

Brussels Airlines operated the seasonal service twice weekly between June 15 and September 12.

Seat occupancy levels for the flights on Fridays and Sundays reached an average of 85.1 per cent, a positive result, according to the airline.

Malta’s Ambassador to Belgium Ray Azzopardi had travelled on the inauguration flight from Brussels on June 20.

Ryanair planes clip their wings

Two Ryanair planes have clipped each other while moving on the runways at Dublin Airport.

Other flights suffered minor delays after the incident involving the Boeing 737s last week.

No injuries were reported after the ‘winglet’ of one of the aircraft scraped against the tail of the other, a Ryanair spokeswoman said.

“Two of our aircraft were taxiing slowly to the runway at Dublin Airport,” she said.

“The winglet of one aircraft appears to have scraped the tail of the other. There was no impact on customers on board.”

Ryanair apologised to its customers for any inconvenience. The Irish Aviation Authority confirmed it was investigating an incident involving two aircraft, during which emergency services attended the scene. (PA)
