Every time I pass by the Nationalist Party billboard showing the faces of former Labour ministers I feel a sense of relief. I say to myself: at least we still have people in politics who were not Maltese idiots.
When these politicians were no longer in power, their PN successors found over €1bn in the national coffers- Joseph Farrugia, Attard
This feeling is supported by the fact that, in their day, not one among them was connected to any dubious dealings. No two of them spent €23 million in consultancy fees in three years. In their time, Air Malta owned the aircraft it flew and made a profit. Enemalta too was not running at a great loss but at a profit. Mid-Med Bank was profitable too, like Sea Malta.
Not only that but when these serious politicians were no longer in power, their PN successors found over €1 billion in the national coffers. Now, anyone who takes over from the PN after the election will find that not only that initial €1 billion has gone but also that the national debt has soared to €5 billion.
Labour leader Joseph Muscat should find more of those honest old chaps.
