Gozo Minister Anton Refalo on Monday did not deny that lorries carrying toxic waste from Gozo’s General Hospital had been allowed to travel to Malta on trips ferrying passengers and vehicles.

Gozitan opposition MP Chris Said had asked if the minister’s attention had immediately been drawn to the shortcoming and what he had done about it.

Dr Said also asked him to confirm that it had been the chairman of Gozo Channel who authorised the carriage of the toxic waste.

The minister simply replied that the procedure adopted by the previous administration was still in place.
