A Libyan refugee who claimed to be a lawyer was handed a suspended sentence after he admitted groping a tourist on a bus.

The incident happened in Ħamrun on Thursday at around 10.30pm. Abdelhamed Abde Qader, 27, who lives in Marsa, was also charged with being drunk in a public place.

The court heard how Mr Qader told police during questioning that he found it “funny” they were making such a fuss over a “silly” incident.

The magistrate sentenced him to three-months’ imprisonment suspended for a year.
