Tourism continues to boom, with figures for the first six months showing a 10 per cent rise compared to last year as June continued the trend with an increase of nearly 12 per cent.
Between January and June, 672,450 tourists visited the islands. More than 80 per cent of them came from the EU and there was a 20 per cent increase in the number of non-EU tourists.
June tourists numbered 165,400, with business visitors going up by 31 per cent. Visitors spent a total of 1.2 million nights on the island, spending €144.8 million – both figures up 12 per cent.
