A Valletta football player and two supporters who were arraigned over incidents at the end of the FA cup final last Sunday have had their bail conditions tightened after the Attorney General asked for them to be remanded in custody.

The Attorney General’s appeal was made after Valletta FC player Terrence Scerri, 27, and supporters Renald Briffa, 34, and 46-year-old Tonio Zampa, were granted bail on Monday.

Mr Justice Lawrence Quintano noted that in the case of Mr Zampa it had been proven that, in some moments, he had tried to help the police and so remanding him in custody was not ideal. However, he would be bound not to approach a football ground for six months. He was also to sign at his local police station for an extra two times for a total of five times.

The same conditions were also added to those already imposed on Mr Briffa,.

The judge ordered Mr Scerri not to go to a football ground for a year.
