International Spanish fashion brand Mango presented its new 70s-inspired autumn/winter 2015 collection designs for women, men and children at The Marmara Esma Yalısı in Ortaköy, with its amazing views over the Bosphorus, the Asian shore and the spectacular Bosphorus Bridge.

There were many celebrities present at the event, among them Yasemin Özilhan, Aysegül Uluç, Pınar Sabancı, Ethel Baler, Neylan Vardar and Ayse Kucuroglu.

The glamorous Brazilian model Ana Beatriz Barros, who was chosen to open and close the show, said: “I’m very happy that Mango has chosen me again and that this time the event is in this beautiful city called Istanbul that I adore and whose food I absolutely love. I’m delighted to open such a special event. I also love music, and the collection designed by Mango for this winter is a genuine tribute to those crazy years of freedom and inspired by the style and talent of the great music legends.”

The styles of Janis Joplin, Grace Slick, Patti Smith and Blondie came to life in the brand’s new designs

The collection presented 41 women’s looks and 17 looks for men. This time Mango fused music and fashion on a catwalk where the sounds of the 60s and 70s were embodied in fur coats, bell-bottoms and flowing dresses and blouses.

The styles of Janis Joplin, Grace Slick, Patti Smith and Blondie came to life in the brand’s new designs. Another trend that made its mark was the rock and disco style, with plunging necklines, leather stovepipe trousers and the mixture of texture and shine that showcased the glam style of the time.

The men’s collections also stepped back in time to reinvent the trends characterising the British rock style. Slim trousers and outerwear such as military coats were key in a collection where black featured heavily in clothes with designs inspired by rock, beatnik and a hint of folk.
