DJ Mag UK has once again opened it’s voting to look for the World’s top 100 DJs for 2016 and once again Maltese international DJ Tenishia is ready for the challenge. The news comes shortly after the famed duo has announced their amicable parting.

Joven Grech is now solely handling the Tenishia project while Cyprian has announced that he’ll be venturing into other music genres and also producing various other acts.

Tenishia has been ranking with the World’s Top 100 DJs for the last five years, with their best rank even reaching the Top 50 in 2012 and currently sitting at the 71st position. It is estimated that over 40 thousand DJs from the entire planet try their luck to get their name in the prestigious poll.

When asked if it will be harder to make it in the list this year following the splitting announcement in the previous weeks, Joven said that Cyprian is one of the best musicians he has ever met on the island and his input will surely be missed. However, he said that being a duo and based in Malta always held Tenishia from growing and he will be now looking into taking advantage of being solo.

“Musically, this year wasn’t our biggest, obviously, as splitting is never easy until things get in place and running again. However, Tenishia’s international shows this year were phenomenal,” Joven said, adding that following the announcement about the split, their admirers fully understood the position and the difficult step they both had to take. “Both Tenishia’s and Cyprian’s new adventures into music still have the full support of the local followers,” the artist added.

With almost 50 international shows last year, Tenishia has travelled the world with its music, and has been gaining great popularity in the DJ World especially in Asia, which comes with great news, as China will be voting for the very first time this year.

Tenishia hold the record for the biggest present crowd ever attending for a Maltese performer as some 300 thousand people rocked up to their show in Vietnam on New Years Eve 2014. The official Facebook page, which is followed by almost quarter of a million people makes Tenishia the most followed Maltese artist on social media, with the act having by far played the biggest number of international shows when compared to any other performer from the island.

Voting remains open online until September 1.
