Labour Party deputy leader Toni Abela is being paid €17,500 for consultancy work for the Ministry of the Family and Social Solidarity, minister Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca revealed in reply to a parliamentary question yesterday.

She was replying to a question by Nationalist MP Claudette Buttigieg on payments to the ministry’s consultants.

Separately in reply to another question, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said Dr Abela had been engaged as consultant on legal and political affairs by the Office of the Prime Minister. He said Dr Abela was being provided with internet and phone service.
