This is the fourth year that Tommy Hilfiger has sponsored this in-creasingly popular tournament at the Marsa golf course. Furthermore, it happens to be the final event of the season.

The configuration is Day One for women, Day Two for men and Day Three reserved for the best 80 players from these two days. The format adopted is Stableford, the aggregate over the two days.

The women’s day produced many excellent scores with Leann Balzan on 40, Maike Beekman, 39, and Maria Woodward 37.

The men’s day also delivered some outstanding scores.

Here, Francis Busuttil was the leader with 43 points, followed by Grigor Khachaturov, 42, and Ron Feenan, 40. There followed a cluster with 39 points including Ber-nard Cassar Torregiani, Hamid Krimat and Henry Gray.

So, Day Three arrived and anyone in the top 30 had the opportunity to win. Significantly they all had a score of 36 points or more.

Beekman, Mark Magro, Mary Douglas and David Debono all came in with a score of 41.

Busuttil returned an excellent 37. However, this only placed him in second place behind Beekman, both tied with an aggregate over the two days of 80 but the second day’s score takes precedence in case of a draw.

Beekman won the trophy and was the best lady, followed by Douglas. Busuttil was the best male golfer and in second place was Magro.

Jonathan Shaw, Tommy Hilfiger (Malta) director, not only played in the competition but was at hand to distribute trophies.
