Tipico, the German remote gaming company based in St Julian’s, has joined the Malta Employers Association to consolidate its operation with practices advocated by the body.

Set up in Malta in 2004, Tipico has grown exponentially from an employer of just two to a present workforce of around 50, supplemented by some 150 employees in related companies.

Tipico holds a Class 2 Remote Gaming Licence issued by the Lotteries and Gaming Authority Malta and offers its services through www.tipico.com in major European markets.

It will join at least 12 other gaming companies which are among MEA’s 400 member organisations.

“The Malta operation is the backbone of the Tipico network, providing all kinds of support, from corporate head office to customer services,” Tipico chief operating officer Carsten Fraatz said.

“As a result of our rate of success and thanks to our specialised staff, Tipico is in continuous growth mode and hence we are constantly recruiting staff.”

Mr Fraatz said Tipico had been in Malta for long enough to understand the human resources available, which made recruitment easier for the company.

The number of Maltese employed by Tipico is rising – a factor which spurred the company to join the MEA – and all staff is encouraged to progress in their career by providing the necessary training.”

MEA director-general JosephFarrugia said the association recognised the gaming sector’s contribution to the economy and was willing to support it operate better in the local labour market.
