In his article entitled ‘Holding government to account’ (The Sunday Times of Malta, January 4), Simon Busuttil seems to shy away from his prime responsibility of a political party leader.

Busuttil does not talk about reconciliation and unity within the ranks of his Nationalist Party. Is he shying away from dealing with the sorry state his party is in? Is he shying away from reaching out to the party’s many ‘lost sheep’? Is he still in denial about the role he played in the PN’s massive electoral defeat in 2012?

If he is to be a dynamic party leader, he should first and foremost be bold and affront the miserable situation his party is in.

Time is running out. If Busuttil fails to unite and reconstruct the PN, he will be held accountable.
