The 230 photos on show as part of the Malta PhotographicSociety’s latest exhibition have many wonderful stories to tell.

Being held at the Malta Society of Arts, Palazzo de la Salle in Republic Street, Valletta, the competition and exhibition is now in its 52nd year.

Fifty photographers are exhibiting their work, featuring a range of genres including monochrome prints, colour prints, projected images in monochrome and in colour and the ‘special theme’ Valletta selection.

“As you explore the four halls at the magnificent Palazzo de la Salle, you will be able to enjoy some truly beautiful photos, the majority of which were taken by local photographers,” says the president of the Malta Photographic Society, Louis Agius. “The competition that preceded this exhibition was open to anyone residing in Malta and not just members of the society, which is what makes it such a special event on the local art scene.

“We hope it will encourage other would-be photographers to get involved and to possibly submit their work to the competition next year.”

The Malta Photographic Society is a non-profit-making organisation run by volunteers that caters for anyone interested in practising the art of photography.

Its mission is to promote the practice and appreciation of all forms of the art form, to spread the word that photography is fun and to help others advance further when it comes to their photographic skills.

The exhibition runs at Palazzo de la Salle until January 7, 2018.
