Two adults and a child were rescued yesterday afternoon after their motor yacht ran aground off Mellieħa Bay. The incident happened at about 2 p.m. after their yacht suffered an engine failure and drifted onto the rocks. The occupants issued an emergency call. An Armed Forces of Malta patrol boat rushed to the scene and the three were picked up from the water.

The yacht was later pulled off the rocks and towed towards Manoel Island.
