Three young men aged between 20 and 28 were injured, one of them seriously, in a traffic accident in Mellieħa yesterday afternoon.

The police said they were informed about the accident in Marfa Road at about 3.45 p.m. Preliminary investigations indicated that a 20-year-old from St Paul’s Bay lost control of the Renault Clio he was driving from Ċirkewwa towards Mellieħa.

He was accompanied by a 28-year-old man from Sliema and a 24-year-old from Birkirkara.

Two ambulances were summoned and the three were taken to Mater Dei Hospital. The police said later the 24-year-old sustained serious injuries and the condition of the other two was being assessed though none was in critical condition.
