White Hart 2
Qormi 6
Qormi scored three quick-fire goals in the final ten minutes of this championship match to see off White Hart 6-2 and go one point clear at the top of the National League.
After a sprightly start, White Hart drew first blood when Karl Tua scored in the seventh minute.
Qormi pressed for an equaliser and Keith Calleja levelled matters in the 20th minute.
Spurred by this goal, Qormi pressed forward and forged ahead when John Williams netted with an unstoppable piledriver.
Then, just before half-time, Julian Zahra shot Qormi 3-1 ahead.
White Hart came out fighting in the second half and were rewarded in the 38th minute when Mark Zahra pulled a goal back after a fine move.
It was end-to-end stuff now, with both sides creating entertaining forward play.
But Qormi struck three times, between the 60th and 64th minutes, through Jonathan Borg, Justin Bonello and Williams, his second of the match, to seal the points.
Until then, White Hart were still very much in the game but that three-goal Qormi blast took the wind out of their sails.
