Three people ended up dead and at least three were wounded in a gun battle between moving vehicles that ultimately crashed at a busy intersection on the Las Vegas Strip, yesterday.

According to Sky News US Team, gunshots fired from a black Range Rover on the as Vegas Strip caused a Maserati to crash into a taxi, creating a fireball and killing three people.

Initial reports suggested there was a gunfight between the occupants of the four-wheel drive sport utility vehicle (SUV) and the high-end sports car.

But investigators did not believe that anyone in the Maserati was shooting, according to Sgt John Sheahan.

Sgt Sheahan said five vehicles were involved. The Maserati driver, the taxi driver and a taxi passenger were killed.

Three other vehicles were involved in the wreck, but Sgt Sheahan said the SUV was gone when police arrived.

At least three people were taken to hospital, including a passenger from the Maserati.

Meanwhile late yesterday police were looking for the distinctive black Range Rover with dark tinted windows and black rims that left the scene after the crash at the intersection of Flamingo Road and Las Vegas Boulevard, near the desert town’s popular casinos.

The intersection – surrounded by some of the most famous casinos on the Strip, including the Bellagio, Caesars Palace and Bally’s – was closed for hours as police officers investigated.

A tourist who witnessed the aftermath of the crash told KLAS-TV the burning taxi looked like a fireball.

The shooting and crash is the latest in a series of violent actions on the tourist corridor since the beginning of the year.

Two people were critically wounded in a shooting at a parking garage on February 6, and a tourist was stabbed in an elevator at The Hotel at Mandalay Bay on February 16.
