Of the 696,593 vehicle roadworthiness tests carried out from 2008 up to the end of last month, 84,278 vehicles failed the VRT.

Answering a parliamentary question by Noel Farrugia (PL), Transport Minister Austin Gatt said the yearly failure rate varied between 8.2 per cent in 2009 and 16.6 per cent last year.
