It is evident that the Maltese do not want to know about the people who left 22,000 famished individuals, 800 homeless, broken families who could not cope with high electricity bills, while throwing away money on the Renzo Piano plans and not controlling corruption.

Fr Peter Serracino Inglott is no longer there to lead the Nationalist Party. However, if he were still with us he would write not about one great clown but on a team of clowns failing in their language.

The way forward is to clean the party, remove the old firm, get new blood that is detached from the cruel recent past, bring women in as they have more positive energy, be more honest and less rhetorical.

I think a general meeting should be called and all paid-up PN members should put forward their suggestions and then vote. If the delegates do not want to have their party in opposition for another century then they should not be influenced by their local candidates and just go ahead with the clean-up.
