A new exhibition featuring 13 Maltese artists is currently running at the Le Meridien Hotel and Spa in St Julian’s.

Lokali focuses on Maltese contemporary art and the featured artworks include art on canvas, sculptures, installations, ceramics and mixed media works. Curated by Claude Camilleri of Gallery Marcoux and Maria Galea of MARIEGallery5, the participating artists include Andrew Diacono, Noel Attard, Victor Agius, Antoine Farrugia, Maria Galea, Tony Briffa, Emmanuel Caruana, Gabriel Caruana, Mark Mallia, Stiefnu, Saviour Baldachino and Alan Pace.

Camilleri explains that collaborations between curators is not mainstream practice in Malta. “Yet teaming up with Maria who shares the same passion for art was a real pleasure. Our aim for Lokali is simple: that of offering our audience the opportunity to see local contemporary art under one roof,” he says.

Galea points out that many of the featured artists are synonymous with the growth of Maltese contemporary art over the past years.

“Visitors to Lokali will get the chance to see a variety of works displayed in a beautiful and spacious environment.”

■ The exhibition is taking place at the KuDéTa Lounge of the Le Meridien Hotel and Spa in Balluta, St Julian’s. It will run until November 28.
