I must concur with Paul Xuereb’s sentiments about civil debates in his letter Call For Civil Debates (October 10).

Moreover, I think that television programmes such as Xarabank and Bondì+ should make sure that they present all the political parties equally and keep discussions decent and analytical.

At the time of writing, Xarabank will exclude Alternattiva Demokrattika for their programme on IVF and cohabitation even if it is the only party with a clear policy on these sensitive matters. Neither is there any mention of three parties in their leaders’ debate.

How long are we going to listen to the usual exhausted talking points the two major political leaders spew every Sunday morning? A debate with just the Nationalist and Labour parties will be a repeat of their Sunday morning sermons. Including the third party in the mix will change the dynamics on the panel and, finally, regenerate the political discourse from our political leaders.
