Last month, this newspaper published a report about the Prime Minister ordering the removal of a tent erected outside the day care centre of Mater Dei Hospital.

I would now like to invite the Prime Minister to check the conditions at MAU2 of the same hospital.

Recently, a relative of mine had to spend three days and nights in what can only be described as a totally unacceptable situation – no ventilation, no sanitary facilities (no showers and only one toilet to serve at least 17 patients) and, worse still, no beds! Patients were expected to sleep on examination tables.

These are Third World country conditions not worthy of our State hospital.

I will now, probably, be told that all this is due to the situation this legislature inherited from the previous one. Well, a year on I would expect some improvement, to say the least.
