Robert Carbonaro, former member of acoustic duo Instincts, recently launched his solo project.
Thingybob is the 24-year-old singer-songwriter’s new musical project, through which he is seeking to collaborate with various musicians in search of a deeper dimension within his music.
Debut single The Man I Used To Be, released fairly recently, reflects Thingybob’s acoustic roots and features Keith Anthony from Gozitan band Fellow Fish, the latter a natural choice as he had already worked with Carbonaro during his time with Instincts.
Following months of rehearsals and recording sessions, Thingybob has been officially launched with the aim of writing and releasing what Carbonaro refers to as “good, honest music”.
With the debut single already receiving positive reactions, it’s more than likely that an EP will follow. “That’s the plan, but one has to start somewhere,” Carbonaro said, “and The Man I Used To Be is an important first step”.
Meanwhile, Thingybob will be performing his debut gig at Coach and Horses in Valley Road, Msida, on Friday at 9.30 p.m. He will be joined onstage by other musicians, playing new original numbers inspired by folk and contemporary singer-songwriters; expect the odd cover or two thrown in for good measure.
