If a person loses hope in life, he would have lost everything. In every problem, a person is like walking through a long tunnel but at the end of the tunnel he must see a beam of light.
A person of hope, who lived in 1945, was Fr James Keller who founded the Christopher Movement, which unites people who, rather than looking at the bad side of others are expected to lead a good life, thus changing the ambient for good.
Fr James had some important points he wished to share with others and with us too.
He says hope looks for the good in people instead of harping on the worst. Hope opens doors where despair closes them. Hope lights a candle instead of cursing the darkness. Hope regards problems, small or large, as opportunities. Hope pushes ahead when it would be easy to quit. Hope draws its power from a deep trust in God and basic goodness of human nature. Hope is a good loser because it has the divine assurance of final victory.
May we too be like Fr James and build our lives on divine assurance that although we pass from dark moments in our lives we keep our hope alive throughout our voyage for eternal life.
