I was very sad to see a recent Net News report regarding Bisazza Street in Sliema. No resident was interviewed, I wonder why. I must say it is a job well done and I thank the Ministry for Resources and Rural Affairs for all the work and the upgrading of this street.

My main complaint to all is why were the residents in this area not interviewed? They have a say also, after all their votes are more important than the business community.

Some elderly residents do not think it was a good idea to have this street pedestiranised 24 hours a day. Some people go to theatres, need medical help – no one can get to their residence due to it being closed to traffic. The least the authorities could have done is open the area to residents only from 9 p.m. to midnight. What has the council done to help these residents? All complaints put forward have been shelved liked everything else in this area.

What has happened to law enforcement; does this still exist?

Sliema is in a mess, with no wardens, no authority around. Crime has gone up in this area and the elderly are not safe anymore, not in the streets nor their residence.
