I am writing because there has not been much mention of who could be the next President of Malta. This is my list of potential candidates:

Lawrence Dimech: he spent his life serving the Maltese community in both Malta and Australia, in diplomatic and other fields.

He is a respected gentleman on both sides of the political camp. His wife, Marlene, would also make one amazing First Lady. She would be a perfect host and champion of the people of Malta.

Baron Nicholas de Piro d’Amico-Inguanez: he is on so many historical, arts and charitable committees, and is one of the most active noblemen in Malta, with an open house at his palazzo. He would bring pomp and ceremony back in its finest form, which Malta has lacked since becoming a republic. The baroness would make a fine First Lady too, with so much experience as the Lady of the Palazzo.

Giovanni Bonello: he was mentioned in the last round of potential presidents when George Abela was nominated. A scholar, a former judge at the European Court of Human Rights, an author of many successful historical books and chairman of many organisations, he would be a perfect choice and a truly deserved one for his lifetime of achievements.
