I think that by now everybody knows that the 2017 election was won by Joseph Muscat’s Labour Party; it was won by the greatest margin ever.

It was not a surprise to me. I never expected it would be won by the PN in a span of four years. I never expected either that it would be won by the greatest number of votes after the four years in government where there was a scandal every week. But then one should remember that we are in Malta.

Another thing that I never expected was Muscat’s victory over the same PN. Recently I was following the parliament station debating the gay marriage Bill and I heard Mario de Marco twice apologising because he and the PN had absented themselves from voting for gays to adopt.

This time we have Simon Busuttil accepting the marriage Bill as is, and not allowing a free vote. However one member of the Nationalist MPs stood up to be counted; he is Edwin Vassallo.

I am proud that he comes from Mosta as I do. I am proud of him because he could not vote for something which goes against his principles, which principles are also mine. I admire you Mr Vassallo for your courage.
