The Silk Road extended over 8,000 kilometres from China through Central Asia to the Mediterranean. The route acted as a highway for beliefs, ideas, inventions and art, as well as carrying precious goods; it was also the highway for expanding religions and new art forms. The route eventually spread east towards India, then into China, allowing the Chinese to trade silk, jade and ceramics in exchange for horses, pearls and gold.
Bradley is a professional tour guide and lecturer, leading groups throughout Arabia and Asia. He has written extensively on the region and is the author of many works about Libya, the Red Sea, Oman and the Nile.
As a film producer and cameraman he has made documentaries for the BBC, National Geographic TV and Channel 4.
