I have been following the reports of the young Brit who, along with his accomplices, admitted to burgling some 44 rooms from various hotels on the island.

The repercussions of these crimes do not end with the prison sentence imposed on these thieves because their actions will long be remembered and will be the topic of conversation over many years to come by the victims and the other hotel guests residing in the hotels at the time.

Their actions would have also ruined the holidays of their many victims, given Malta a bad reputation and would have placed unwarranted stress on the workforce.

The honesty of various individuals would have been questioned as they would have had to endure the unpleasantness of being interviewed on the thefts.

The management would have been in duty bound to investigate each and every claim and all this along with the number of “fictional claims” they have to follow up each year.
