I am very pleased to see, in the Talking Point of October 22, that Lino Spiteri is back and that his ordeal with destiny has been successful. I wish him a speedy and full recovery.

During the latter part of last year, I too went through a similar ordeal. As a result I had to make use of the Oncology Department at Sir Paul Boffa Hospital and later of most of the departments at Mater Dei mentioned by Mr Spiteri, including the Emergency Unit on two separate occasions.

Thankfully and with God’s grace, this is now all behind me. However, I wish to take this opportunity to endorse all that Mr Spiteri said in regard to the excellent exceptional service rendered by both hospitals and members of staff of whatever grade and without any exception whatsoever.

In this I also include services I received from private hospitals and clinics. The care and attention given to all patients by all concerned and at all times of the day or night was second to none and I shall always remain grateful for this.

We are extremely fortunate in Malta to have such an excellent health service and instead of complaining about any shortcomings that may arise from time to time, all concerned should also give credit when this is due.
