Just a few months old, local band Gypsy Genes makes no secret of the fact that its mission is to make music that people can dance to. This was already obvious from the scorching vibe of debut single Red Hot Money, which was released earlier this summer, taking the local airwaves by storm. The point was pushed further when they released an unusual music video that was indeed all about dancing and then some.
And if anyone still needs convincing that Gypsy Genes are about the groove, the whole groove and nothing but the groove, the band has just released a brand new tune by the name of That Girl. As with their red hot and pumping debut, the new song is upbeat and brimming with rays of sunshine, belching retro synth sounds that bring the 1980s back to the future and an abundant measure of that chunky, funky sound that fuels the Gypsy Genes’s fire.
And yes, the band will be releasing a music video for this song too, so keep your eyes peeled. Until then, visit the band’s You Tube channel to stream their music.
Gypsy Genes is James Vella (drums), Chris Xuereb (bass), Rikki Lee (vocals) David Torreggiani (guitar) and Mark Kram (keyboards).
