This letter is both a condemnation of Arriva as well as praise fo one of their drivers. For the second time now I have been stranded when the last bus from Valletta to Marsaxlokk failed to turn up.

The last bus was supposed to leave at 11pm when the new bus service was introduced but after being first stranded months ago and after being advised by drivers, I have been catching the 10.30pm bus to make sure I get home when I have a night out.

The 10.30pm now seems to be the last. On October 16, I was at the Valletta bus terminal at 10.15pm on the dot.

At 10.45pm I asked the controllers whether the bus was still coming and they confirmed that it wasn’t.

I was stranded and all the controller could say was to go to Paola on the bus available.

I caught the bus to Bir-id-Deheb instead and told the driver my story. The kind and generous driver (Alfred Fenech) realised this was not right.

It was the last run of his shift, so at the end he drove me in his own time to Marsaxlokk. Thank you, Mr Fenech but shame on you, Arriva, for the terrible service!
