Samsung Smart School solution demonstrates commitment to improve student learning with easy-to-use immersive technology for the digital classroom.

Samsung Electronics Co. Limited believes that new technology in the classroom is set to change dramatically how students learn and teachers pass on information. To lead this education revolution, Samsung is working closely with content providers such as global learning company Houghton Mifflin Harcourt to deliver advanced solutions.

Already, the widespread adoption of tablets, mobile applications, social networks and digital content is having a profound effect on students worldwide. They expect their learning environment to be digital and interactive.

“Students today are digital natives. As they embark on their learning journey, they expect interactive software and content,” says Bumcoo Cho, senior vice-president, Enterprise Business Team, Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics.

“This level of interactivity can only be achieved if the education sector focuses not only on devices that motivate students to be active participants in their own education, but solutions and content that increase collaboration and networking.”

According to Thom Rubel, vice-president of Research at IDC Government Insights: “Educators should focus their mobile technology investments in devices and networking solutions that move beyond connecting and delivering content to devices that actually foster student connections and collaboration. Our research shows that a collaborative learning environment significantly improves student retention rates.”

To help bridge this gap, Samsung is previewing its Smart School solution, a complete digital education package consisting of Samsung devices, software and complimentary components that enable teachers to make lessons more dynamic and interactive. Rolled out globally from February, Samsung Smart School solution enables the instant sharing of what’s on the screen of a teacher’s device to his students’ personal devices.

It gives teachers greater control over their classroom, increases student engagement and ensures a more efficient transfer of materials to students, which in turn encourages more participation and communication and delivers improved classroom management and performance.

The Samsung Smart School solution has been deployed in many Korean schools as a pilot, and is currently being trialled in more than 20 schools around the world.

The solution has been enhanced and proved in current classrooms from this series of pilots evolving to new learning environment.

Samsung’s concept of the next generation classroom demonstrates how an interactive and collaborative learning environment can be implemented and used for teachers and students with features such as multi-way screen sharing, which aims to encourage discussion.

Samsung also markets a wide range of products and solutions including outstanding tablets, interactive whiteboards, mobile printers and PCs that will transform how teachers interact with students in the classroom.
