A breath of fresh air is wafting through the damp corridors of power at the Lands Department with the announcement of a White Paper relating to the physical environment.

However, it only offers a crumb of comfort, as many of the points submitted in our petition to Parliament four years ago have not been addressed.

In pursuance of our aims the Ramblers Association recommended inter alia the identification and maintenance of a network of footpaths in the open countryside, whether public or private, as well as the right of access to historical and archaeological sites and coastal zones.
