The British High Commission in Malta, as part of Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, held an exhibition of photographs depicting her time in Malta as an ordinary naval wife as well as covering the numerous visits the Queen made to her beloved little George Cross island.

To people like me who were born around the time of the Coronation nearly all the exhibits had some meaning. I found myself looking very closely trying to identify myself, unfortunately without any luck.

I honestly hope this exhibition was attended by lots of people as I am sure there are many residents of the Maltese islands who harbour many sweet memories of our most gracious Queen.

I thank the High Commission for identifying the close links between Her Majesty and Malta.
