With latest single Home riding high on the local airwaves, local pop rock band The Crowns has also released an accompanying video for its latest single. Produced by Jean Pierre Gatt, the video is deeply inspired by the song’s theme, namely that of someone seeking their roots.

This is depicted in the video by the young lady who revisits what was once her home to reconnect with her past, only to realise that, even after finding her childhood diary, the past is but a memory that lingers on in her mind. Further to the single and the video, there is also the band’s debut album, Someone Else, in the offing. In fact, the band will be officially launching the album this Saturday.

The result of a year of song-writing and a number of recording sessions at Temple Studios, Someone Else represents what the band is about on many levels. Bearing their trademark melodic trait, the featured songs reflect a more mature outlook in their composition but, as the band is keen to point out, they are not sophisticated at all.

The songs still have that accommodating feel, that soaring hook and a more pronounced piano sound that grasps the listener and doesn’t easily let go. Despite the change in approach , during the making of this album, the band fully employed the experience gained in the few years it has been active on the local scene.

The Crowns will launch Someone Else during a live concert at Ir-Razzett L-Aħmar, Mosta, on Saturday. Local act Jane Doe will play a warm-up acoustic set and DJ Jimmy G will be spinning tunes in between and during the after-party. Tickets cost €3 or €10 (including the CD).
