The leader of the Opposition keeps trying to clutch on to anything that comes along in order to keep his political head abovethe water. The latest is the design and location of the monti stalls which are planned to be set up in Ordnance Street and hence in the vicinity of the new, and unwanted, parliament.

Simon Busuttil had never uttered a single word about the hotchpotch of monti stalls located by the side of St John’s Co-Cathedral as well as at the side and back of the Palace – the two most historic and admired buildings in our country.

And yet, Busuttil finds the location in Ordnance Street, close to a monstrous looking building which is an insult to our capital city’s architecture, objectionable.

I believe it will not be long before he changes tune once the re-designed monti stalls – as promised by the Prime Minister – are set up in Ordnance Street, thus giving our capital city much needed life, not just during the morning but throughoutthe day.

While Busuttil, if he ever makes it to Castille, can move the monti stalls away from Ordnance Street, the Maltese people have no earthly chance of moving away that horrible building which will house our Parliament.
