A woman of 18 was critical and another 18-year-old was grievously injured after the car they were in crashed into a tree early yesterday morning.

A 20-year-old man from Naxxar was driving the Alfa Romeo 147 towards Lija. The accident took place in Labour Avenue, Naxxar.

He lost control of the car and hit the tree, the police said. The man was not injured. The duty magistrate appointed experts to help with the inquiry. Police are investigating.
