A training seminar for 120 participants entitled ‘Is this child gifted?’ was recently organised by the Directorate for Learning and Assessment Programmes. The speaker was Dr Lianne Hoogeveen, head of the Centre for the Study of Giftedness (CBO) at Radboud University, the Netherlands, and a member of the executive committee of the European Council for High Ability (ECHA). During the seminar Dr Lianne integrated scientific research with professional practice and outlined the different profiles of gifted learners, a range of gifted education models and the roles of teachers, peers and parents in the process. The seminar was partly funded through Scientix 3 (H2020) European funds.
