Like everybody else, I received the income tax form, which has to reach the Inland Revenue Department by June 30. Fair enough; I will fill in the form faithfully, to the least euro.
But this made me think and I would require quite a number of columns in this newspaper if I had to put all my thoughts in writing.
What came to mind first were the many scandals we have been faced with: Café Premier, the Gaffarena land deal; the new ‘job for the boy’ given to former parliamentary secretary Michael Falzon; the several ‘persons of trust’ placed at the cow’s udders; trips to Baku and Abu Dhabi without an explanation why the visits were necessary.
I had other thoughts about the several contracts signed, none of which were published.
On top of all these thoughts are those about the Panama Papers affair. I had better stop thinking and go straight to my desk to fill in the form as I mightoverlook the deadline and so be fined for non-compliance.
