Veterinary students may be able to complete part of their degree in Malta if a university plan to partner foreign universities goes through.
The University of Malta does not offer a degree in veterinary medicine and there is a shortage of vets on the island, the Rural Affairs Ministry said. Talks are underway with foreign universities to offer joint courses that would allow students to be based in Malta for a number of years.
Yesterday, Rural Affairs Minister George Pullicino presented 10 students with scholarships, worth €10,000 each, to pursue their veterinary degrees in several European universities.
