I refer to the article, ‘Plan for up to 100 more berths at Ta’ Xbiex’ (The Sunday Times of Malta, October 13).

The article incorrectly claims that the planned upgrades by Transport Malta (for the Gżira Gardens Marina) will increase the number of berths by another 100. The proposed new layout, however, will increase capacity to a total of approximately 90 berths.

Furthermore, besides the installation of a floating pontoon, the proposed upgrades include the repair and upgrading of the quay, mooring systems, service culverts, extension of the electrical sub-station and installation of hardware to match shore power capacity requirements, installation of service modules for fresh water and shore power and reconstruction and widening of the pedestrian walkway and landscaping.

Editor’s note: We would like to thank Mr Battistino for pointing out the difference between 100 and “approximately” 90.
