Europe is a little sick; but it is much worse in other continents, including the US.
This does not mean that the idea of Europe has not improved. That 30 per cent of votes in the French regional elections went to Marine Le Pen, is a symptom that the French and European popular class do not understand or accept that globalisation brings us a very messy economic model.
The EU social problem, in some places more than in others, includes unemployment, job insecurity and the emergence of a social class which before was a low middle class but today a real “lumpen proletariat” with no social conscience and simultaneously very depoliticised. It is a social class that is trapped in a society becoming more liquid, more unjust and manipulative.
